Saudi businessmen have shown immense interest in the global business summit entitled, “Vibrant Gujarat 2011,” which is scheduled to take place in the western state of Gujarat in India on Jan. 12-13, according to a visiting Indian businessman from the energy sector.

Malek Raees Ahmed, who was leading a three-member trade delegation from Gujarat, was on a ten-day visit to the Kingdom to invite local businessmen to the summit. The other members of the team included Sanjib Krishna Gosh, executive director of Connect Power.

During their visit to the Kingdom, the delegates met with Fahd Al-Sultan, secretary-general of the Saudi Council of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI), Husein A. Al-Athel, secretary-general of Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Adnan Mandourah, secretary-general of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and other leading businessmen in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.

The team also had discussions with Indian Ambassador Talmiz Ahmad during its stay in the Kingdom. During his visit Ahmed felt that the responses from the business community and representatives of the institutions were very favorable. “The ‘Vibrant Gujarat’ is a mega exhibition event held biennially. It is one of South Asia’s premier investment event organized by the local state government of Gujarat in India to attract global investors to the state,” Ghosh told Arab News on Friday.

The exhibition will also present corporate houses across various sectors, institutions and industrial giants to showcase their products in an eight-day exhibition and thus pave the way to enter into business discussions with potential global investors and the participants in general.
